Our Inspiration
Bright Bay Adaptive Play was born from our journey with our youngest daughter, who is blind and autistic. As we are navigating early childhood with her, we quickly realized something heartbreaking but true: in our own community, there were no support groups, no gathering spaces, and no places where parents walking a similar path could connect, breathe, and feel understood. Even with a very young child, we felt the isolation that so many families of children with disabilities quietly carry.
Everything changed the day we visited Dream Day on Cape Cod. Even though our daughter was still little, that experience opened our eyes. We met families from all over who instantly understood what our days looked like — the joys, the challenges, the advocacy, the exhaustion, the love. For the first time, we felt surrounded by people who got it. That sense of belonging stayed with us long after we left.
It also made something crystal clear: Families on Cape Cod deserve a place like that close to home — a place where disability is understood, where children can be themselves, and where parents don’t have to explain their lives before being welcomed into a community.
Bright Bay Adaptive Play exists because no family should feel alone in this journey. Our daughter inspired us to build the space we once needed — a sensory‑friendly, inclusive, joyful community where every child and every family is welcomed just as they are.
